Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 18The next day, Applejack, Blink, and Rarity all rose bright and early—the sun hadn't even come up yet—and said their goodbyes, heading out onto the trail Blink had mapped out for them.Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 18 by ~OrionRyan
The route passed first through a thicket, bushes and trees on either side of them. Oddly enough, as Rarity and Applejack looked the map over, they found that they weren't staying on land—by the looks of it, they were actually passing through a huge body of water which connected Equestria to their current continent. It wasn't long before Rarity got curious.
"Blink," she asked. "where exactly are we going? Applejack and I were not even sure we were in Equestria anymore when we landed in those mountains."
Blink shook his head. "You're not, and besides, it'd take a little too long to explain— I don't really want to bore you."
Rarity smiled. "It's no bore at all, Blink."
"Yeah, ain't like there's much better to do," Applejack said.
Blink sighed. "Look, the place we're going to? It's kind of off-the-radar. It'
Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 17The days passed slowly for the pair, Rarity deep in slumber for most of them, only awakening to groggily ask where she was and why she was in so much pain before Glow Star gave her a sleeping drought. If nothing else, her recovery was progressing steadilyeach day she was a little stronger than the last.Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 17 by ~OrionRyan
Outside the walls of Star's hut, the war raged on, though with the combined might of the Shetlands, Trixie's forces, and the natural magic they had on their side, added to the fact that Rarity and Applejack had completely undercut the griffin leadership, it was obvious that the ponies were going to win the day, at least according to the occasional status reports Blink gave them.
All the same, there were lossesseveral of the Shetlands and a few of Trixie's citizens had been struck down by the brutal griffons, and despite the evidence of their impending loss staring them in the face, the monsters refused to back off. In fact, they only seemed to get more vicious the closer the
Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 16Some time later, Applejack's eyes fluttered open, and she found herself lying face-down in a pile of leaves, a string of drool hanging from her lips. She reached up to wipe it away with a pained groanher mouth felt extremely dry.Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 16 by ~OrionRyan
As she hauled herself up, she caught sight of Rarity lying a few feet away, the gash in her side re-openedblood had leaked into her hair, turning the bottom section of her purple curls crimson. The earth pony gasped and galloped toward her, but tripped over the prone form of Seth, who still had an expression of agony frozen on his face.
"Rarity!" Applejack cried from the ground, once more pulling herself to a standing position. "Rarity, if you can hear me, answer me!"
The unicorn panted as she rolled over, weakly moving the hair out of her eyes. "Applejack?" she saidher voice sounded a mile away. "Applejack, I feel extremely ill. What's happened?"
Applejack looked Rarity over, noting that, although the gash had reopened, the blood wasn't pour
Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 15The pair of ponies stood stock still, staring at Seth. They were both holding their breath, taking in the sight of himthe huge griffon stood still to observe them as well, though his gaze was more predatory and analytical. He was trying to decide whether they were even worth his time.Strange Bedfellows, Chapter 15 by ~OrionRyan
Rarity had known that Seth was largethe Shetlands hadn't stopped talking about him since they'd arrivedbut seeing him face-to-face was more intimidating than she'd expected. His golden eyes stopped on her for a moment, a wicked smile crossing the griffon's face. Rarity shuddered.
"Excuse meSeth, is it?I was just wondering why you think it's necessary to do all this. The Shetlands are peaceful! You have no right to go stomping around, acting like a king and trying to destroy them."
Seth paused, cocking his head to the side quizzically. He took a few steps forward and stomped the ground angrily, baring razor-sharp teeth at them. Apparently he either wasn't willing to talk, or w
